About Artist
Formed in Thiruvananthapuram in 2003, Avial shook the indie music scene with their pioneering brand of “Alternative Malayali Rock”, fusing rock, folk, and poetic Malayalam lyrics—a move that challenged norms and reimagined Indian rock identity.
Their debut single, “Nada Nada”, became an underground hit, culminating in their breakthrough self-titled album in 2008—seven tracks that earned Avial six out of seven Jack Daniel’s Rock Awards and the Footprints Young Achievers Award, putting Malayalam rock on the national radar.
Avial’s evolution encompasses film collaborations (e.g., Salt N’ Pepper’s “Aana Kallan”, 22 Female Kottayam’s “Chillane”), international festival appearances—including Sakifo in Reunion Islands and Inferno Metal Festival in Norway—and unforgettable festival sets across India at NH7 Weekender, Great Indian Rock, Deccan Rock, and more.
